York
is a beautiful old city in England, famous for its cathedral, and with
a fascinating history that stretches back 2000 years through the Viking
and Roman invasions of Britain. Visitors delight in its many quaint old
customs, but it has a darker side that I can now reveal. Today with my
hidden Gnome-cam I managed to obtain shocking pictures of Gnomes in chains,
openly for sale as slaves in the shadow of York cathedral. The poor dwarves
were shivering in the winter cold, prevented from escape by the harsh chains
that bound them. In a pathetic attempt to ingratiate themselves, they were
displaying their small bodies to potential buyers. Flinty-eyed tourists
from the USA with bulging wallets and asses, dressed in large checky shorts,
were poking and discussing them as though they were inanimate things. The
brave little Gnomes managed to smile, but all they could look forward too
was a life of slavery in some far-off garden. The shop-owner and local
officials refused to discuss this abominable trade, but the pictures speak
for themselves. How long until every Gnome can cast off his chains and
be free ? The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.. |
