This is captured most perfectly in the picture (left) which was used to
publicise ' The Seven Year Itch'. What most fans don't realise is how much
her stardom owed to a chance encounter with a drunken Gnome. Here's what
happened.
One
day they were filming Marilyn on 'The Seven Year Itch' without realising
that a drunken gnome was lewdly looking up her dress. Suddenly the Gnome
drew attention to himself by letting out a mighty Gnome burp which blew
Marilyns skirt up around her waist. You can see her giggling as she fights
to retain her modesty.
This
accidental image was captured on camera and, with the drunken Gnome carefully
air-brushed out, was used all over the world to publicise the film. Marilyns
future stardom was assured, thanks to the drunken Gnome. |
